Story: After several days of rain, and a rainy morning, the sky began clearing in late afternoon. We decided to take a drive from our cabin in West Glacier, to Logan Pass to catch the sunset. On our way to Logan Pass, it began raining hard as we passed the Apgar area of Lake McDonald. As we drove along the western shore of Lake McDonald at the beginning of Going-To-The-Sun Road, the sun emerged as it was still raining hard. My wife said, "There has to be a rainbow somewhere". I, in my infinite wisdom, said, "I think it's too early, and the sun needs to be at a lower angle to produce a rainbow". No sooner had I gotten the words out of my mouth, the most beautiful, vivid, colorful rainbow appeared over Lake McDonald. I looked for a place to pull off the road. Pull-offs are everywhere along that stretch of the road, but it seemed as if I drove for miles before I found one. I just knew the rainbow would fade before I was able to get to a place that I could photograph it. Well, the good lord was looking over my shoulder as I ran down to the rocky shores of the lake. What a sight! The most vibrant rainbow I had ever witnessed stretched across Lake McDonald as the rain ended and the sun shone brightly. It lasted several minutes as I captured different compositions. This is one of them. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did capturing it!
